Plan for BAJP's participation in major peace and justice
demonstrations and coordinate group transportation for our
membership and our community to and from these events.
OBJECTIVE:
Cultivate and sustain membership, identify existing and new
membership talents, and expand the vision and reach of BAJP
through full utilization of membership pool.
OBJECTIVE:
To foster a broader awareness of BAJP and our mission by
acting as the BAJP liaison to local and national media
outlets, and preparing BAJP press packets and specific
events press releases.
CONTACT:
Contact info for our new Press Committee Chair will be posted soon. In the meantime, if you want
to work on this committee, contact bronxpeace@bronxpeace.org
Each
committee handles its schedule independently. Many committees do
work almost exclusively over telephone or computer, while others meet at
each others' homes to do committee work. Contact the committee
(see contacts above) for specific information about their
activities. See also "current committee activity" for
what's going on with each group.
Future
Films: To be decided shortly. Likely a film by and about
Veterans for Peace.
Current
Planning: Working with peace activism outreach planners to
organize a film and discussion that would specifically deal with the
issue of recruiting youth from the Bronx to join the military.
The idea is to expose the falsehoods behind military
recruitment.
Newsletter
Committee
Past
Newsletters: Are now available on our website on the "BAJP
Newsletter" page. There will also be some exclusive
'web only' articles posted by our members here.
Current
Newsletters: The most recent newsletter was published very
recently (March, 2003). You can access the March,
2003 in 'pdf' format here. We may also develop a web page
of "educational resources." Namely, excellent
articles relating to current peace and justice issues that are
available on the web.
Future
Planning: If you want to write a piece for a future newsletter, please contact Jordan Moss at 718.652.5579 / jordan.moss@verizon.net.
If you want to do research for articles for our "educational
resource" page, contact John Reynolds at johnr@bronxpeace.org.
Website
Committee
Website
launched: February 9, 2003
Current
Activity: All basic content is now online (as of March 1,
2003). We have been tracking usage since February 26, 2003 and
are rapidly nearing our 1000th visitor! We
average about 30 visitors a day, and we have had numerous
international visitors recently, now
that our site is recognized by the major search engines.
Future
Activity: We are currently cultivating new uses for the
website, but one of the most important future activities for this
committee will be updating all
the content on the site regularly. Mark is in the process of
handing the management of the website over to Manuel. For more
information or to help with this project contact Manuel Cortazal at manuel@bronxpeace.org
