Our incredible team this weekend consisted of more than 250
volunteers who distributed more than 300,000 leaflets citywide!!!
WELL DONE AND A GREAT BIG THANK YOU FOR YOUR WORK!

Some other very exciting news:  The number of cities participating on
the Feb 15th day of protest has grown to over 300 cities
worldwide!!!  Check out our "Protests Around The World" link from the
www.unitedforpeace.org website.

Please publicize our assembly point for the Feb 15th protest: 49th
street and 1st avenue at 12 NOON.

The next two volunteer meetings are crucial for the mobilization
effort for Feb 15th:
WHAT: Volunteer Meetings
WHEN: Wednesday Feb 12th, 7-9pm and Thursday Feb 13th, 8-9pm
WHERE: UFPJ Office: 330 W 42nd street, 8th floor, between 8-9th Ave

We need a thousand volunteers for Feb 15th so please bring your
family, co-workers, and friends to the meetings!

WE NEED EVERYONE TO GIVE THIS HISTORIC EVENT ALL THEIR FREE TIME AND
ENERGY THIS WEEK TO MAKE THIS RALLY A HUGE SUCCESS

SIGN UP SHEETS FOR FEB 15th:  Please Sign Up for a Volunteer Task
(ONLY ONE) for Feb 15th by contacting the appropriate person (see
below) or by stopping by the UFPJ office (330 W 42nd street, 8th
floor) anytime between 9am-9pm during the week.

VOLUNTEER NEEDS FOR FEB 15:

1. SECURITY:  We need lots of volunteers to be Marshalls for crowd
control and for keeping the peace on Feb 15th.  Please leave a
message for Carlito Rovira at 917-241-1569 as soon as possible so you
can begin your training.

2. ON-SITE FUNDRAISING:  We need hundreds of volunteers to collect
money on Feb 15th.  If you can please contact Arun Aguiar at the UFPJ

3.  ARTS & CULTURE:  Work with street theater groups and large

STREET LEAFLETING BLITZ ALL WEEK LONG DURING RUSH HOUR!!!

Please leaflet every day for half an hour on your way to and from
work this week.

This is a great opportunity to get people out on the street for Feb
15!!!  Tell the public that this may be their last chance to voice
their opposition against the war in Iraq BEFORE it starts and also a
chance to hear some amazing speakers and performers (Archbishop
Desmond Tutu, Julian Bond, Angela Davis, Def Poetry Jam poets, Tony
Kushner, Richie Perez etc.)!

We have an enormous need for volunteers in the office this week.
Please contact Chris at 646-473-8935 to let him know when you can
come in to help us answer phones, do some phonebanking and man the
materials and sign up sheets tables.

Starting Wednesday afternoon, we will have 5,000 placards to assemble
and need all the help we can get!  Please come in on Wed, Thur or Fri
after work or whenever you are available to help us assemble these
signs.
